OK, so while I was able to make a quick post in Brussels, I haven't had the chance to make one since I got back so here it is.
Just a quick rehash, it was hot, warm and extremely hot but luckily my hotel had great A/C. While dealing with the heat, I did get my chances at going around the town and exploring places such as the Atomium, the symbol for the 1958 World's Fair, the Peeing Boy statue, the Grand Place and so many more. The food was incredible and the beer amazing. It's true, the "best beer in the world" is at Belgium. The people were great too and very friendly.
On my travels back I stopped at The European Space Center. I was excited and looking forward to going in and checking it out but it turned out to be closed and wasn't that impressive looking in real life as it was in the brochure.
I also stopped in Luxembourg to check out Luxembourg and it was cool. Town sitting in between two mountains, part on each side but overall, nothing too spectacular. Got another country checked off though.
When I was almost home, I saw some huge castles on top of mountains and actually was driving up one tree covered trail I thought was a road but it was a bike trail as a couple of bikers coming down let me know. I turned around and headed out after getting a few pictures. I also saw some mountains that were eroded into strange shapes with trees on top so I stopped and hiked up to one and got some very cool pics. Saw a few more but then I was tired and ready to get home.
So this adventure was most excellent. Looking forward to my next one but until then...

Greetings as we're coming with a "live" update from Bressels, Belgium. Got here yesterday and have been busy sightseeing this amazing city. Very lively and upbeat. Much like Berlin and Frankfurt for comparison to Germany. Not so much like Stuttgart.
I also stopped and had dinner at an outdoor cafe where I tried the Belgium tradition of Stoamp. It's sausage, ham over mashed potatoes filled with carrots and cabbage. Very good. Also had some samples of Belgium beer and once again, they w...

Here we are with another month starting. I swear, the year is just flying. It has been especially hot over here in Germany and quite frankly, I'm sick of it. There's no air conditioning and it's just miserable. UGH!!! Gotta take a cold shower before I go to bed just to get my body temp down to a decent level so I can hopefully get some sleep.
Short update today as it's been another busy week here but looking forward to the weekend as I'm heading to Belgium for the holiday. Great beer and...

Greetings all!!! Been a few weeks since I've posted something on here. Not sure how that's happened. First off, want to wish my mom a Happy Birthday!
So a few weeks ago, went exploring up to Heidelburg. Very interesting town on the Rhine river. Also had a majestic castle ruin there. Can you guess the name? OK, this is going to sound incredible but the name is Heidlburg Castle. Got some very cool pictures of it along with many of the bridge, the town and surrounding areas. Also went ...

I really do love the castle exploring out here. I see them on the side of the Autobahn when I'm driving and decide to pull off and go check them out. To me, that's fun and exciting, especially when I read up on the history of these places.
The first one was actually planned. I drove to Heidelberg and visited the famous Heidelberg Castle. It sits about halfway up a mountain and the walk to get there is intense. You walk up an incline of about 35 degrees for almost a mile. By the time you ...

Here we are in June now. Wow! Where is the year going? Seems like it just started but here we are.
I've been gone a month and a half now and not sure how long I'll be gone but I'm looking at things with a positive outlook. Getting perspective positive is important.
Hope everyone has a good start to Hurricane Season.
Until then...

What an excursion the past couple of days. Drove south through Switzerland to get to the first stop in Italy, Lake Como. For all my Star Wars followers on here, that's the lake where those horrible actors got married. Otherwise, known as Anakin and Padme. The lake itself is beautiful and surrounded by majestic mountains but there isn't a whole lot to do there. I did manage to eat an authentic Italian pizza while there and was left feeling let down. The images though are awesome!!!

It's hard to imagine that you won't see somebody again when you leave. My first instance was Nera leaving us much too soon and now comes the news of my original little buddy. Chip came into my life back in July of 1995 and just left it May 23rd 2015. He was just a week shy of his 20th birthday. He was an amazing cat unlike any other I've seen or had and I know there will never be another like him. He was special and unique. He traveled across the country with me from San Diego to St. Pe...

So posting this late as the other post and weekend was dedicated to my guy. Went to Rhine Falls or as it's known here, Rheinfell and had a very cool day hiking, exploring, riding boats and taking pictures. This is the largest waterfall in Europe, by volume, not size, and was very impressive, especially when right next to it as it crashed down. You could feel the water hitting below, feel the spray as it hit your face and also hear that thunder. It was incredible. The castle built onto th...

Today is a great day!!! Today at 10:54 am, Zachary Dylan Bickford came into this world and changed my life. He has been a constant source of love, happiness and joy for these 16 years. I am a very proud father and I hope that in spite of me missing a few of his birthdays, he knows I am always there with him and he is always with me.
Happy 16th Birthday buddy!!! I love you very, very much.
