Aug 10th - Goodbye Kuwait

August 10, 2012
It is now just about time to bid farewell to Kuwait.  It has been so hot and also windy on top of it and I am more than ready to be leaving.  I have one real night left here and then will be states bound.  I am excited and so happy to be completing this experience on a positive note.  I have fulfilled my obligations and am ready to start the next phase.  So thanks for having me here in lovely Kuwait but I must be going.

Aug 6th - Goodbye Iraq

August 6, 2012
It is done!  After spending the past year in Iraq, I have left the country for good.  I am currently in Kuwait awaiting my next journey back to the states.  It wasn't easy getting out of Iraq.  Had weather issues, aircraft issues and then a loss of power in the Air Traffic Controller Tower and then quiet hours.  Finally got wheels up around 6:30 pm and landed in Kuwait around 8:15 pm.  Did all the signing in, moving my luggage and gear and had my first taste of Subway in a year.  I'll tell ya...

Aug 5th - Last hours

August 5, 2012
We're in the final countdown to be leaving FU3.  It's 3:45 am here and I can't sleep.  Guess I'm too excited to do that.  Almost like the night before going to Walt Disney World or being a little kid on Christmas Eve.  I'm packed and ready to leave.

August 1st - Getting ready

August 1, 2012
Here we are at the beginning of August and I am getting ready.  Getting ready to leave this place finally and get on with life back at home.  It will be so nice to finally see this whole area as a distant memory.  While there is a bit of sadness, it is only at .05% out of 100%.  I'm so looking forward to the new chapters in my life and new beginnings.  I am looking forward to starting a new job, playing some golf and mountain biking.  Also get to see my son, family and friends.  It's going to...

July 22nd - A Day of Rememberance

It has been one year since Mildred E. Bickford left us.  There have been days where I've thought of her and cried, missing her and wishing I could have visited with her one more time.  I've watched her video tribute numerous times and have never been dry eyed through it.  However, she loved us all and was such a caring woman who had the patience for anyone any anytime.  She was gentle and caring and reminded us all to be better to each other.  A story that still lives very vividly in my memor...

July 13th - Another Friday the 13th

July 13, 2012
This is the third Friday the 13th we've had this year.  It's also the last one but hey, that's OK.  Even though 13 is one of my lucky numbers, it's not for many more people.  It's all how you think and what you believe and I believe that my time is coming to an end out here in extremely hot Iraq.  Yes, I am planning my trips to get back to the U.S. and start a life again.  It will be so nice to be able to eat whatever I want and to drink a beer if I so choose.  Just a little more time and thi...

July 10th - The day after a long day

July 10, 2012
Wow!  Today is totally different than yesterday.  Yesterday turned out to be a 37 hour long day that all started on Sunday morning at 7 am.  It finally ended with me falling into a deep, blissful sleep yesterday evening at 8:30 pm.  I felt like a zombie throughout the day.  It all started with, wait for it, the place where I live.  The building that houses my cement prison cell lost all power meaning no lights, no A/C, no water, no nothing.  Needless to say, nothing worked out for me so I end...

July 1st - Welcome to July

Here we are on the first of July and the time is flying by.  It has been getting very hot out here and I am guzzling water.  It's so hot and unpleasant but it's coming to an end.  A/C and cold beer and other drinks are coming.

Mid June

June 12, 2012
Here we are and it's now the middle of June.  Time is flying by and soon this will be over. 
Now, onto the site.  I'm working on making this an actual site of various interests and links and things to see and hear.  I'm trying to expand the site and get into some more interests and archives.  There's so much to do if I want to do that.
